Summary of CV for Dr Deon Engela
Dr Engela is presently in private practice at Constantiaberg Medi-Clinic as an Orthopaedic Surgeon. His special interests are Hip, Knee and Hand surgery.
Dr Engela received his MBChB qualifications from Pretoria University in 1985. He did Specialist training at University of Cape Town whereafter he qualified as an Orthopaedic Surgeon, in 1993. He was awarded the Eidelstein Medal by the College of Surgeons of South Africa for best Orthopaedic candidate (FCS (SA) ORTH) in South Africa in 1993.
Dr Engela did a Hip and Knee replacement fellowship in the United Kingdom for one year (1993) after qualification. He was appointed as an Orthopaedic Consultant in the Joint Replacement Unit (1994) in Belfast, Northern Ireland, where he practiced as a consultant doing mainly Hip and Knee Replacement surgery and research. He returned to South Africa in 1995.
He was a part time consultant at the Princess Alice Arthritis Unit from 1995 until 2002 and the Hand Clinic at Groote Schuur Hospital from 1995 to 1999. He served on the South African Orthopaedic Association Executive Committee from 2005 – 2007. He is a founder member of the Constantia Joint Replacement Unit.
Summary of CV for Dr Nick Martin
Dr Martin is in private practice at Constantiaberg Mediclinic as well as Vincent Pallotti Hospital. He is a specialist hip- and knee surgeon and maintains an active interest in orthopaedic trauma surgery.
Dr Martin qualified MBChB at the University of Cape Town in 1997. He specialised in orthopaedic surgery at UCT and graduated FCS Orth (SA) in 2008. Subsequently he recieved specialist hip- and knee surgery training at Groote Schuur Hospital and Vincent Pallotti Hospital (De Puy Arthroplasty Fellowship) for 18 months.
He lives in the southern suburbs with his wife and three sons.
