Hip resurfacing

Hip resurfacing is a newer concept in treatment of the arthritic hip.  This is a metal-on-metal implant, which enables the surgeon to do a resurfacing of the hip joint without excising excessive bone. This procedure is suitable for younger patients.

There are specific criteria according to which patients can be selected for a resurfacing procedure. There are certain deformities and certain patient factors that would not make resurfacing of the arthritic hip the most suitable procedure.
